NIST practice guide shows agencies how to establish trusted geolocation in the cloud

Earlier this month, the National Institute of Standards and Technology issued an interagency report that effectively serves as a practice guide for agencies looking to establish trusted geolocation for cloud computing systems. The IR is an actionable tool based on the first "building block" delivered by the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence.

NCCoE-Industry Collaboration Receives RSA Innovation Award

A team composed of members from NIST’s National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE), Intel, and RSA is the recipient of the 2013 Innovation Award from RSA for their proof of concept and implementation of “Trusted Geolocation in the Cloud.” The implementation uses RSA Archer commercial enterprise and risk management solutions and dashboard/reporting and integration functionality to demonstrate that a compute node in a virtualized environment can be measured at launch time, continuously monitored and have its physical location and level of compliance determined, thus helping businesses feel confident in the security of virtual machines in a hosted infrastructure and cloud technology.
