TTI/Vanguard Cybersecurity Conference

The NCCoE will host TTI/Vanguard members for sector roundtables and demos as part of their 2016 Cybersecurity Conference from noon to 4 p.m. on September 28. TTI/Vanguard’s visit will include demos of example solutions in the areas of health IT, energy, financial services, and IoT, as well as roundtables led by NCCoE experts on health IT, energy, financial services, retail/consumer, and transportation sectors to provide a solutions-oriented deep dive into the issues facing that sector.

AFCEA Global Identity Summit

The Global Identity Summit provides an immersive environment where identity professionals from the federal government, private sector and academia can dedicate three days to strategic planning, information sharing, needs analysis, collaboration and relationship building. The National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence will join NIST and the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace as an exhibitor.

2016 Cybersecurity Brainstorm

NCCoe Director of Operations Tim McBride will speak on the panel "Predictive Security: The Best Offense Is A Good Defense" at the 2016 Cybersecurity Brainstorm on September 13 from 9:15am-10:00am at the Newseum in Washington, DC. The panel will address several questions, including: Is government moving effectively towards predictive security approaches that can improve both compliance and defense? What role does the evolving CDM program play when it comes to using Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) data for effective security? Where do security intelligence and cognitive capabilities play into this challenge? How can clarification of defensive and offensive cybersecurity approaches help? Is there a silver bullet to help agencies meet both requirements?

Rock Stars of Cybersecurity/Threats and Counter Measures

Brian Barrios will speak at Rock Stars of Cybersecurity/Threats and Counter Measures at the EMP Museum in Seattle, W.A. on September 13, 2016. In his session "Should Organizations Share Threat Intel to Avoid the Next Cybergeddon?" he will discuss the risks and benefits of sharing, whether legislation is necessary to drive improvement against cyber attacks, and whether sharing will actually mitigate a cybergeddon. 2016 Public Safety Broadband Stakeholder Meeting

NCCoE cybersecurity engineer Joshua Franklin will be speaking at the Public Safety Communications Research Conference on June 7th and 8th. This three-day meeting will bring together representatives from public safety, Federal agencies, industry, and academia. The meeting will highlight critical issues related to public safety broadband communications and the deployment of a nationwide public safety network. Using Identity to Safeguard the Nation's Critical Infrastructure from Complex Threats

NCCoE senior security engineer Jim McCarthy will be presenting a webinar on Identity and Access Management in conjunction with the energy sector build team collaborator AlertEnterprise on June 7 from 1pm to 2pm ET. In this session hear directly from industry as well as the nation’s leading research organization about techniques they have been developed to extend identity information beyond the traditional purview of IT by including physical access and OT (operational Technology) access to deliver a more holistic view of security.
